Wide-ranging perspectives on real estate investing were gained as an attorney at a major law firm, a property portfolio manager, a commercial site selection consultant and a developer-operator of self-storage facilities in two states.

Career: Real estate attorney at Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer and Weiss, a Detroit-based law firm, 1996-2001. Client counseling on financing, acquisitions, leasing and corporate structure.

Co-founder of Progressive Management and Realty, which developed three self-storage sites, managed six locations in that industry and undertook a dozen single-family projects. Burnstein handled portfolio management and financial matters from 2001-06.

Principal in Coastal Ventures, participating in site selection and development projects in North Carolina and South Carolina from 2005-08.

Principal in Kirkshire Site Selection Services since its launch in 2006 as a national consulting firm that helps clients locate and validate real estate projects.

Co-founder in 2007 of Storage Opportunity Partners in Newton Highlands, MA, and Farmington Hills, MI, which owns and manages seven Storage Pros self-storage locations and provides management services for other operators in the industry. The company specializes in acquisition and turnaround improvements to transform under-forming assets into investment-grade properties.
