AM NRSC Measurement ServicesEvery year, the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) requires AM radio stations to take signal integrity measurements and the Chicago Radio Engineers can help you meet this important challenge.
To perform the specific emissions tests, which are designed by the National Radio Systems Committee (NRSC), the Chicago Radio Engineers use a Tektronix 495P spectrum analyzer along with the LP-3 as it's calibrated loop antenna system for our clients. Another key tool is the AM Notch filter, which is often necessary to eliminate errors when measuring harmonics with a spectrum analyzer. Frequently internally generated intermodulation products create artificially high harmonic or spurious indications when the fundamental carrier is unsuppressed. By "notching" the primary frequency, reliable accuracy is ensured. The AM notch filter also allows measurement forays below -80 dbc at +- 75 Khz, which are required when conducting NRSC tests on stations with power levels of 5 kw and above. Station owners, General Managers, Chief Engineers or anyone who has a business interest in the technology being monitored by the FCC should visit the NRSC website to learn more about their activities and to review the current NRSC standards. |
